Health Care in America makes me sick........

I just sat and watched Michael Moore's documentary "Sicko" and I have to say that it made me sick to my stomach. Not because it was a bad movie or gross in any way, but because it exposed a simple truth that I have known for some time now. Quite simply if you have health care in America(i.e, insurance, HMOs, and the like) you are screwed. Unlike other countries like Great Britain or France or even Cuba, who all have FREE medical care, we people who are unfortunate enough to be American citizens in this corrupt cesspool, have to pay through the nose to get even the simplest of necessary care. What the F@ck? Why is it that the supposedly greatest country on the planet cannot take care of it's citizens? One word. GREED. In this documentary, I saw footage of sworn testimony in a court of law from people who were health care hitmen of sorts. They were people who had the sole task of denying as much as 90 percent of all insurance claims so that they could get a fat bonus check at the end of the year. They also stated, under oath mind you, that the health care companies maintain that any payment for medical services was an unacceptable loss. I thought that medical insurance was supposed to take care of you. I mean that's why we pay for it right? Apparently not. President Nixon put the practice of privatized insurance into effect in the 1970's and we are still suffering and dying for it even today. There were so many stories of people denied medical treatment and even dying because of that due to the greed of insurance companies that it made me sick. After watching the movie I was livid. I hear all of this bullsh!t from conservatives saying that the government has no need to pay for our medicine, and calling universal health care communism and socialism. Well I think sometimes that I would rather live in a country that has socialized health care, paid for by our taxes than in this country without it. I mean do we really need to piss away all of that money on the bullshit programs that we do? Why don't we pay more of our taxes to medical, or education, instead of some fatass senator's bullshit pork barrel program? I feel that the only reason we don't have better education and medical care, is simply because the congress and especially the president don't give a shit about what we want. And I used to believe that this was a democracy and that our elected leaders were supposed to represent what we want, not their own self interests, but somewhere along the way, corruption and greed overtook the American dream and replaced it with something that looks like it, but is far more sinister. I know I'm not alone in this feeling. I want my America back, but it looks to me as though this isn't going to happen if ever. Especially when people like Dick Cheny are asked why they continue to ignore what the American people want and he says "I don't care what the American people want". How much longer are we going to have to sit back and be abused by our leaders? When is enough going to be enough and we are going to stand up to our leaders and elect someone who isn't a self service corrupt loser like George W. Bush? Probably never as I saw one such honest politician by the name of Ron Paul try to bring honesty to the White House and his political party did everything they could to hide him until his chances of winning the nomination for the Republican Party were gone. With a useless political system like that, where the corrupt hold all of the cards and we have no real say in the matter, then where do we stand as a nation? When George Bush can steal an election from Al Gore, who in my opinion IS the rightful president, then what does that say about our government? Not much in my opinion. Now before you ALL start telling me what a "traitor" I am and how I should "love it or Leave it", let me say that I love America, I just don't love what it has become in recent years. Think about it.
